Mental Abilty Test

Before Mental Ability Test (MAT) this subject was called Intelligence Test .

Although this subject is not part of the school curriculum, it is included in most of the competitive exams. The subject does not have a definite prescribed syllabus, and there is no age group restriction. Because of this, questions can be asked to students in the age group of 12 to 13 years as well as to students in the age group of 20 to 25 years. Difficulty level may vary slightly.

This subject tests the following mental abilities of students:
  • 1) Logical reasoning
  • 2) Analysis
  • 3) Keen observation
  • 4) Imagination
  • 5) Numerical skills
  • 6) Basic mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • 7) General knowledge
  • 8) Critical thinking

Generally, all questions are multiple-choice, with each question providing four alternative answers. Students must select the most correct option among them.

To achieve success in this subject, it is essential to develop all of the above abilities. Additionally, the development of these mental skills is crucial for achieving excellence in academic subjects, sports, and various art forms.

This book discusses how questions that assess all these abilities are formulated and how to solve their answers. Students should attempt to solve these questions on their own first and then verify their answers. If the answers do not match, they should try to think from different perspectives, which will enhance their mental perception.
